Neighbor's field.

Our dear departed Rusty watching over.
Ice Storm of 2007
Looking through a bedroom window in early winter at the Cardinals playing in the water. I counted 20 in the yard that day.
Turkeys in the neighbor's field, Fall 2006
Rainbow over the sun. Spring 2007.

Mr. Tree Frog. He lives in the bedroom window, (outside of course), and eats the all the bugs he can. He also is very LOUD at night! But we love it! Every now and then a buddy shows up. It's pretty cool to see him change his color. The green is reflecting the grass in the background. If he gets on the inside of the frame he will turn a milky color. When George brought him in he turned brown.
Ice in the tree at night.

These are Phoebes. They are trying to distract George from their nest of babies on top of the porch light out back. What a great shot!
Baby Phoebes. This is a little blurry because he had to hold the camera up where he couldn't see the screen to get the shot. We could only hear them peeping. "FEED US!"

This picture was taken early in December 2007 by Cheryl, George's sister-in-law. It was taken at his Mom's place just up the road. Their properties adjoin. All are part of the original family farm that began over 40 years ago.
These were taken by Cheryl also, I think in late summer. She and her husband Don enjoy nature immensely, especially bird-watching. They have a part of their land dedicated to preserving nature and wildlife. They live directly across Liberty School Road from Mom's.

Showing off in the tree, probably teasing the dogs of course.

Dominoes is our black and white golden retriever. At least he thinks he is a dog. And for a "dog" he is and excellent mouser! He came to God's Golden Acres as a dumped, feral kitten who was barely weaned. George took the growling, biting, scratching "dog" in and it didn't take long for him to become family.
He loves all of the dogs, and he loves to tease them.

These were taken in the spring of 2008. There are so many deer around the farm. A customer told George that they were out grazing, so he got his camera and took these great shots from his mom's house.
Just a few funnies! If anyone has any doggy or kitty funnies they would like to share, please email them to Carolyn.

Finally! Some pretty pictures of Mother Nature's wonderful work around Carolyn's house. Enjoy!
On Sunday evening the 25th of May, I stood out in the middle of a thunderstorm, with a tornado siren sounding, trying to keep this nest of baby Robins from being destroyed. They were only a few days old, with barely any feathers. The wind was blowing really hard. I stood on my porch holding onto the rose bush the nest was in. I used a bungee to secure the upper part of the bush to my porch beam. The rose bush is taller than my porch roof. When it was secure, I took a spotlight into the garden below to search for a fallen baby. I found the one that had fallen out of the nest. It was lying atop my Irises only a foot from my small pond. I picked it up using a Cannis leaf and dropped it back into the nest. The next morning, I was relieved to see mom and dad taking care of their babies as though nothing had changed. Today is the 28th and they are already covered with feathers and twice the size they are in the picture.

Today is the 31st of May. Here are some new pictures of the baby Robins in my rose bush. There are 3 in all. The one that I rescued is doing just fine. The parents gripe when I check on them, but they always come back. I guess they just have to keep up appearances.:) They are around 9-12 days old now and they have most of the feathers they will need to fly very soon. I know I am going to miss them.

Here are some pictures of Mother Nature at work around God's Golden Acres. Even at its worst, one can always find the beauty in it, if you take the time to look.
