Welcome to our 4th edition to Pupdates! I would like to start this page with a letter from an inspirational person. She has truly touched our hearts. She and her golden are the true reason we do what we do. Thank all of you for allowing us to touch your hearts. George and Carolyn Updated Sept. 13, 2008

Subject: Thanks for seeing us last night. Date: Tue, 22 Apr 2008
Hi George,
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our visit with
you last night. Chris, Tim and I really enjoyed meeting Jacob, Angel, Sugar,
Darlin, Renee and all the other girls. They are all very special dogs. Very intelligent, sweet and well
behaved. All in all a very good advertisment for the puppies you are offering. Even Chris, who was a
little cynical about getting a new dog, said "Those dogs are awesome, Mom. I can't wait to bring ours
home."
We are so excited about our puppy and can hardly wait to see her
again on memorial day weekend. We spent our trip home talking about what
to name her and how well she will fit into our family. We had to stop on
the way home to get our pictures printed so that Tim could take them into school to show his friends
and teacher. (OK, I confess - I got a set too to show my co-workers, too!). Then the boys had to wait
up for their dad to get home from work so they could share all the excitement with him. I
am sure we will have lots of planning and shopping to do in the next few
weeks and it will help pass the time until she comes home with us.
I really liked being able to meet and interact with both Jacob and
Angel. Although, a dogs temperment has a lot to do with it's enviroment, genetics do play some part
and I feel we are off to a good start
with our baby. Her parents are both remarkable dogs and I feel sure she
will be too.
George, I really wanted to thank you for taking so much time to
make us feel welcome. Tim loved picking out his puppy of course, but it
was so nice of you to let him play with the adult dogs. He thoroughly
enjoyed it and kept commenting on how beautiful and strong they are. I appreciate how you answered
every one of my questions so patiently. As I
told you, I am very much a "dog person" but I have only ever had small dogs.
A big dog is a new experience for me and I knew they would be very
different than a small dog. I was a little apprehensive about how I would
be able to manage such a large animal but you answered all of my questions
and your girls all made me feel that a Golden Retriever was going to be absolutely right for me. I fell
in love with each and every one of them.
We look forward to seeing our little girl soon and will keep an
eye out for her picture on your website.
Thanks so much for everything!
Lynn

Hello George,
It was good to meet you in person this morning and to meet all of your dogs. Abby had a good trip
home. She was very settled and comfortable with an occasional whimper. She has already gone potty
outside and is sleeping soundly in her den with the Sugar-smelling blankets. She is adorable! We will
send pictures.
Thanks.

Good morning, Carolyn,
Thanks for your email. I so appreciate it. We are really enjoying Abby. She is adorable, smart and
very aware. She has only had two mistakes (due to our not taking her out quickly enough). She is
fabulous at going outside almost immediately. Her vet and his staff sighed audibly when they saw her.
What a peaceable creature - except when she is chewing everything in sight...until we distract her with a
chew toy or teething bone/ring. We will send pictures when I figure out how to put it on line. The kids
know how to do it.
George is such a nice man - every bit the gentleman he was on the phone and more. You can tell how he
loves his Goldens and how they love him. We enjoyed seeing the "crew", led by Jacob, fetch the ball.
Wow are they powerful! That Jacob is quite impressive.
Abby has been wearing her collar, but doesn't really like the leash - yet.
Back to potty training...every time she goes, we say "potty" and after she goes, we say "good girl". It
was raining this morning, and when we went out, I said, "potty" and she went. Also, she likes to walk
right next to me. She only whined to go out three times last night: 1 , 2:30 (false alarm) and 5.
More later...
Thanks, again.
Louise and family
Abby is so good! Also, she loves to sleep next to her feeding bowls - sometimes with her head on the
edge. What a loving little creature!
I am glad you and George enjoy the Goldens so much. The delight on George's face as he threw the
ball for them was so apparent. He enjoyed the game as much as they did. :)
Thank you for your advice and tips. Please don't hesitate to
share your expertise. We really appreciate it.
God bless you, George and the Goldens.

Hello George,
Everything is going great with the new puppy
we got on Saturday. He officially has a new
name of "Jake." He is such a great dog and
the boys can not get enough of him.
Thank you for the time you spent with us on
Saturday. It was great getting to know all the
other dogs. You can really tell you give it
your all to make the Golden's the wonderful
dogs they are.
We will send more pictures of Jake as we take
them.
Thank you again for all your help!
Ryan and Angela Cox

Thanks, Carolyn. I do hope George enjoys himself and stays the whole weekend. I agree that taking more time before he rides back would be better. Hopefully he follows your advice. :-) You made me smile with your comment??It's only 13 more dogs than I am used to at home.? WOW! You are a very energetic lady! I will send more pictures soon. Our Abby is so good. I look forward to sending more pictures to you. I loved petting Sugar when we visited too. Abby does remind me of her. I love her bark. It is so adorable. We spend a lot of time outdoors. We have a 1 ½ acre pond in the backyard, and she has been very good about not jumping in. We also havea duck ?couple? and the female decided to lay her eggs (all nine of them) in our flower bed by the pond. Abby is fascinated by her. She approaches her as she sits on the eggs. Then the duck hisses if she gets too close, then she flies into the water, and Abby watches mesmerized. The other day a box turtle also captured her utmost attention. I am enjoying nature more because of Abby. I take her out every morning at 5:30 AM ? rain or shine. The wind, the smells, the lighting, the sounds, the humidity are always different at that time of day, and I love to experience it while watching her reactions to it. Enjoy your weekend, and please say hello to George. Take care, Louise Cheli

Merlin with Sugar and Jacob and his new family
Hi George,
Merlin is doing great! He is very smart and we are enjoying
him tremendously. Sasha has already taught him how to
"sit". I gave your name and Phone number to our local vet
clinic so they could put it into their book of breeders if
anyone calls looking for a golden retriever puppy.I hope that
was OK. Have a good rest of the summer and I'll try to send
photos along later in the year.

Subject: Kara Fader with Holly (one of Nana Puddin's puppies)
Hi George,
I was just wanting to thank you for such a beautiful puppy you
have let me receive. She is the sweetest thing I could have ever asked for. I was just
sending you some photos of the little girl. I ended up naming her Ms. Holly Boo. I
was going to add Nana in there but I didn't want to steal her mom's name. Any ways,
I hope you like them and thanks again. I will keep sending you more.
Sincerely, Kara Fader

Subject: Cinnamon's puppy - male #2
Hi George,
This is the Tyson family, we met with you on June 20 and took home one of Cinnamon's puppies (male
#2). The kids named him Sparky, we are still working on his official name to register him. Sparky is
doing GREAT!!! We are so happy to have him. He was a little reserved the first few days at home, but
now he is very comfortable. The adjustment has been a breeze, he hardly cried at night - just a small
amount the first couple of nights. Potty training is going pretty good too, he seems really smart. He
loves the kids, there is no shortage of attention here. And he is starting to get acquainted with our two
cats, he loves everyone. We've had one visit to the vet - he is doing good, but they said he was a little
under weight. His appetite is really increasing so I am sure he will start to put on more weight. I can
tell he is getting bigger and fast. He loves sausages.
Attached are a few pictures. I will send more as the months pass so that you can see his progress.
Thank you so much for raising these wonderful dogs!

George:
See the attached pics of Cooper. Mary is very happy with him. As you can see from the pictures, one
of his favorite places to sleep is behind the toilet. He also likes the tile in the kitchen. The Papillion
puppy we have who is about 9 months old loves to play with him. Although I don't think she realizes
he is already twice her size. And she definitely has no idea he is going to be much, much larger than her.
We will keep you updated on his progress.

Hi Carolyn,
Thank you so much for sending my mom the baby pics of Trouble, I love them! He is such a good
puupy! The boys who helped pick him out decided that we should name him Jacob Trouble Jr. after his
dad, so the name Trouble has stuck. I almost called George last weekend because Trouble got really
sick... I was very scared, but got him the the Vet early and avoided anything very serious. By Sunday
he had bounced back and he was back to himself. I can't tell you how much he makes me smile!
Instead of crate training him, I turned my bathroom into his bedroom, complete with a bed, blanket,
toys and a pee pad. He has not had a single accident in there! We have five other dogs who he is
getting acquainted with. The Mastif has not been very welcoming, but she is coming around. He gets
along great with the Rot and the middle Shi Tzu. The oldest Shi Tzu is kind of crabby toward him, but
our baby Shi Tzu (he was born in Feb) and Trouble are the best of friends! It is really cute, they play
together and then they snuggle when they are tired! I have some pictures attached, I will send more as I
take them. Hope you are doing well, thank you so much again!! We love our new baby!!!

Hey guys,
This is Sean and Chris Naeger
We picked up a male pup from you a little while back. He was sugar's first pup in her last litter. I
wanted to send you a pic and to let you know all is well. He is such a sweet guy and actually quite
smart. He will be 4 mos old on Tue. We named him Cody and he loves my 10 year old Akita. The two
of them play and play. This is my first golden and i had no idea what to expect, but boy am I glad I
picked this breed.
What a sweet boy he is.
Thanks again,
I couldn't have found a better pup.
Hi George
My name is Jeff Moenigmann, Michelle and I brought Dumplin#3 home on the 14 of June and we
named her Tootsie. We have her enrolled in puppy kindergarten classes at the Humane Society of St
Louis on Macklind and at tonight's class we had Tooties brother in class with us, Dumplin#4 and they
got to play together in class,it was pretty neat. Just thought I would drop you an e-mail to tell you that
story and send you a couple of pictures. She has been a wonderful puppy and I tell everybody I believe
she is such a good puppy because of the way you take care of them until they get adopted. I talk up
gods golden acres every chance I get.
Thanks George

Hi George!!
My parents bought my Jakers from you
a few days after I found out my lung
cancer was almost gone!! He has been a
celebration for me and a reminder that
good things happen after a storm. He is
my best friend and my companion every
day. He makes me smile and laugh and
we have grown to depend on each other.
He's the best thing that has ever
happened to me and I would be lost
without him!! Thank you so much for
raising such wonderful dogs!! His
birthday is April 28th and mine is June
28th. He just turned 4 months old on
August 28th and we celebrated by going
to the park and playing fetch. He loves
rubber squeaky balls and staying up late
and watching movies in bed with me. I
will send you pictures in a few more
months when he gets bigger. He's going
to look like his momma Sugar!!
I never knew an animal could
communicate so well. He knows when
something is wrong. Like when I come
home from chemotherapy and I am sick,
he always lays right next to me and
doesn't move, not even to go potty
outside!! Him and I have truly bonded
and I owe it all to you! All the pictures I
sent you are within the past two months.
He's grown so much since then!! He's got
long gangly legs now and he flounces
around all klutzy and silly looking!!
HaHa!!!
God Bless you and your family!
Rachael

Thanks for your email Carolyn. Jake is such a good boy!! He continues to be a motivation for me.I
would love to come back and visit! I'm afraid I might want to pick up another one while I'm there
though! haha!! I can't believe I never had one before now! And I'm 21! I'm attaching a few more
pictures that I wanted to send you before but the files were too big. Hope to see them up on pupdates!!

GOD'S GOLDEN ACRES
Hey Carolyn!
I hope this finds you and George happy and blessed! I
just finished up chemo last week and it looks as if all is
going to be fine! I'm so excited! Jake also turned 6
months old on the 28th (3 days before my last
treatment).
He has upgraded to size XL for his travel kennel that
he sleeps in at night...he got too big for the bed. He
now knows SIT and SHAKE and I'm so proud of him!
All he wants to do is please me! He gets along great
with my sister's 4 year old female golden Amber. He's
already taller than her and I'm wondering how much
more he's going to grow! But I love him. He has
brought me so much comfort, joy and laughter. I had
to sell my mustang and get an SUV because I love
taking him everywhere with me. Hey, some people have
kids and some people have dogs! haha!! Can't wait for
his first winter pictures!!! That will be a sight!!!
Keep in touch!!
Love,
Jake and
Rachael

Hello George,
This is long over due. Riley is doing great and
fits in with our family perfectly. She is the best
dog ever IMHO. She has been on many many
trips since she arrived home with us. She has
been to Texas, Roswell NM, The Grand Canyon,
Utah Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, The Great
Sand Dunes in Colorado and many trips and
hikes to lakes and campgrounds around the St.
Louis area. Actually Riley practically goes
everywhere with us even on trips to the store, gas
station,etc.
Riley gets out and walks twice for about 5 miles
a day with me and my wife. During those walks
she has learned to catch a Frisbee and return it.
She is fabulous at it and I am very proud of her
that she can do this.
Riley has the best behavior I've ever seen in a
dog. She is sweet, kind, and affectionate to
everyone, and is eager to please all. She gets
along great with other dogs and our cats. She
completes our family and everyone loves her
very very much. We have found that our two
little Shiz Tsu's are just not enough for her to
play with, too small. They are both getting older
and one will be gone soon. We are hoping to get
Riley a bigger friend that she can play with in the
next year or so. Of course it will be another
Golden.
Our youngest son Timmy is training Riley to be
a therapy dog so she can visit hospitals and
senior care centers and be a inspiration for
people in need to get better.
Attached are a couple of photos from trips since
she came home. I hope you enjoy the pictures
we've inclosed.
